Duke and Wake Forest played a great game last night. A game with everything. My pre-tournament sweet 16 picks look really grim at this point. Tennessee has bombed, Tubby is not looking good, and it doesn't look like Oklahoma and UConn are going to fold. Oh well, there is risk in making early picks (aka guesses).
Roy....can you not get the boys to defend the 3 point shot??!!!!
Greetings from Pittsboro! As some of you might know, Pat and I have made our escape from the suburban sprawl of North Atlanta and have relocated to a quirky little town in North Carolina called Pittsboro. We are about 20 miles from Chapel Hill down the infamous highway 15-501. I decided to start a blog to keep everyone up-to-date on our adventures in the "Pitt", as we fondly refer to our new haven.

Roland Burris
I told you he should not have been seated. The pundits were so quick to insist that he was qualified so he should be seated; I do not think anyone really looked into his background. Enough said.

My Friend Leonard
The first person I met when I moved to Atlanta was my dear friend of almost 39 years Leonard. He was responsible for my employment and he has seen me through wild times, marriage, births...everything life has dealt. We have shared political views, friends, experiences, and fried chicken. He has always been my mentor and I miss him.

Earth to Obama...
It does not pay to be Bi-Partisan these days so give it up and go after them. Nice guys finish last.
Yes they do
Tarheels won and oh yes Franklin Street goes wild. Students running from everywhere to celebrate the DEFEAT of DOOK. Fires and "fun". Let's talk about which conference is the best... little east.

A Press Conference rather than a Bushwackence
A town hall meeting to George Bush meant you went to a place where everyone within 100 square miles voted for you and you invited only those people who were donors or ardent supporters to attend. You told them what to ask and then you told little jokes and pretended to answer the so called questions. Press conferences were rarely held and when they were there were plants in the press corps (at least during the 1st term) who asked "questions" which usually contained glowing compliments and bashed the Democrats. Journalists who were critical of the administration were almost always ignored. Syntax and direct answers were rare. Very often someone had to explain after the fact what George actually meant.
Though the situation is dire it was comforting to hear the President answer questions without reading a prepared card and actually make sense.

The Chatham MarketPlace
If you walk out our front door and walk down the street to the right the road ends, but if you look carefully you will see a path through the woods (Jan & Jerry have been). At the end of the path is an open space and the old Chatham Mill buildings. The Marketplace is located at the end of the building. It is our local food co-op. It is not very large but all kinds of local things are sold...chicken, cheese, milk, fruits and vegetables that come from the area. They make breakfast lunch and dinner, have wireless, an outdoor eating area, and bake the best stuff. Katrina and I walked through the woods to get milk yesterday afternoon and noticed that they had planted all kinds of gardens in the front and added some more metal vegetable sculptures. Katrina sits outside by the chairs and waits while we get what we need. Its all so Pittsboro. And Kristy and David and Harriett have been too.

PittSnow
It is snowing in the Pitt and the Tarheels are beating Maryland at the half. I have never been able to get past Lefty Driesell from the past...he was such a chair thrower and a screamer and I have always hated Maryland...Go Heels.
Looking grim for Evansville, they are 5th in the Valley and its getting late in the season.

Pitt Happenings
Things in the Pitt are rather calm except for the fight to have "liquor by the drink" in Chatham County. I know, you thought that fight had been won years ago, but not in Chatham County. I don't have to tell you who is on what side...the usual suspects. The hotsy totsy Fearrington Inn can serve alcohol in a glass with whatever mixer you want but not the City Tap or the General Store right here in Pittsboro. I am waiting for the fights in the streets between the Baptists and the wild hippy, liberal maniacs.
